Taking self-care seriously
One of the good things to come out of the Covid years was an awakened understanding that mental health isn’t something we leave at home when we go to work (even when we’re not physically leaving the house to work). And while ‘Wellness days’ and free subscriptions to Headspace or Calm via a company are great (and a big shout out to companies that provide things like this!), really it’s on each of us to do self-care.
So, as May is Mental Health Awareness month I’m curious how people are consciously looking after their mental health these days? Have you maintained some of the habits and practices you consciously put in place during the pandemic or have you let things slide? Especially if you’re a remote worker – how are you taking care of yourself? (a recent study by Gallup found that remote workers are more likely to experience negative emotions than hybrid or on-site workers).
Personally I love my morning exercise: swimming, pedaling, running. I get myself some endorphins, serotonin and vitamin D – all fabulous mood lifters – and I can see and feel the difference when I don’t get a ‘hit’
What do you do to look after yourself?
