Have a laugh. It’s good for you.

Two fish in a tank. One says to the other – “Do you know how to drive this thing?”

I was checking out the calendar and saw that 4th May is not just Jedi Day, it’s also National Laughter Day😊 (yes, there really is a day for everything!) And daft as it sounds, I think this is one we should all embrace – because laughter is good for us! (and oodles of studies have proved it). Among other things, laughter triggers the release of endorphins, lowers cortisol levels and increases the intake of oxygen, meaning it reduces stress, boosts our moods and strengthens our bodies. We all need it in our lives.

So give yourself a boost and watch your favorite comedy or share your favorite joke and spread a little happiness.

(And if you want to geek out on this, see Kramer CK, Leitao CB. (2023) Laughter as medicine: A systematic review and meta-analysis of interventional studies evaluating the impact of spontaneous laughter on cortisol levels on the National Library of Medicine).
